Storm chasers refer to being under a gust front like this as being 'in the whales mouth' because of the appearence. Usually if I see a scene like this it means my chase day is over as the storm surges at high speed and is no longer inflow dominant (which is what is normally preferred for supercell thunderstorms). That being said, they can still be beautiful skies and the turbulence and chaotic boiling motions underneath make for some great photos. This is a shot from my early chasing days close to home as a fall thunderstorm rolled across the area.
Just like always, beautiful. I wonder how you always happen to come across those awesome cloud formations. I rarely ever see storms and beautiful skies.
Thank you! It takes a little research, a little weather knowledge and a desire to drive to find these things. This one was realtively close to my house though.
good day, loved the picture, it was with some spectacular colors, I love your composition, many congratulations, already now, if able to visit my gallery and comment and if you can of me a few points in my donation, thank you
