The Ansley Meso by INTOtheRFD The Ansley Meso by INTOtheRFD
A massive supercell thunderstorm rotates over the rolling plains of rural Western Nebraska near sunset during a late May storm chase. We had just come through some large hail to get in front of the storm after being about 50 miles west of it when it initiated. Hail was still falling as I set up my tripod to take this image. The light was incredible and really helped play off the striations in the updraft of the storm indicating rotation.

Do you suppose these kind of formations are what led to tales of floating cities in ancient mythologies? :)

Thank you, and yeah most of the time while chasing I'm a good distance from home. Not sure I'd feel the same if it was hovering above my house.
