Shelf clouds, usually formed by the clash of cold, rain cooled air pouring out of a thunderstorm, and the flow of warm, moist air into the storm... almost always guarantee some gusty winds in your future. Fortunately I had enough time to grab a few frames before a desperate attempt at trying to stay in front of this storm as it accelerated across Southeastern South Dakota at more than 60 mph. Unfortunately, I could never get in front of the storm again, and go lost in a dark abyss of rain, wind, and blowing dust.
I bet! How many miles do you go in a day to track them down? This is somewhat random, but as a kid I was obsessed with storm chasing shows and wanted to become a storm chaser as an adult
